Lucky

So day 7 was full of adventure. I was going to call today Bad luck but I changed my mind. We had been running 32 ( out 90 cars still in)

That all changed today ( we are now 64) It started as we headed out of town and 15km missed our turning The next market was 38km up the road but we got there it wasn’t and we realised it was wrong ( 30min of us trying to understand where we went wrong)

Anyway we decided to cut our losses and miss the 3 time trials and get to lunch check point. We eventually found a road up and over the mountains and got back with 5 min to spare.

Interesting we were asked if we needed help by some locals and we said no but the still followed us all the way BACK not sure who they worked for

The afternoon session was long drive up over the mountain at 11350’. Amazing views but the car suffered from lack of oxygen. Did far too many miles in second gear to get over pass. We had a mechanic help us fix the carb float which allowed the car to run better

We then proceeded on the final 125kn of dirt road across the desert ( downhill 😎). 75km in the clutch stopped working. The cap had broken and the fluid had escaped…..

Fortunately the mechanic sweeps found us in 5min and had us back on the road 5min later having bled the air out

Definitely the longest and toughest day for us. But lucky because we learned a lot re directions ( first time we’ve been lost in the rally) the car was fixed twice quickly without us being stranded. Lucky indeed 😃
